This Sunday, December 14, ArchDaily founders David Assael and David Basulto will speaking at the day-long Tsinghua Thinking Architecture Forum in Beijing on the subject of architectural media. The event, Dissemination and Intervention: The Contemporary Role of Architectural Media, will bring together 15 of architecture's most influential editors from around the world to join in on the conversation. The forum is being organized by the World Architecture Magazine and School of Architecture, Tsinghua University. Aedas is nearing completion on the sales gallery for the mixed-use Shanghai Greenland Qingpu Xujing District complex. The gallery, shaped as a leaf, is designed to fit with the "clover leaf" concept of the nearby Qingpu Xujing Conference and Exhibition Centre, in which it will be connected with by a pedestrian bridge.
playze and Schmidhuber have been selected as winners of an invited competition to design the Urban Planning Exhibition Center in Ningbo, China. Inspired by the ancient artform of the Chinese ribbon dance, the exhibition center aims to “blur the lines” between citizens and decision makers in a way that grants the public “rare access into the inner-workings of the city” in an effort to strengthen the relationship between local government and community.
The idea of the Chinese “Urban Planning Museums” is the nation’s response to the rapid urban growth occurring in many of its major cities.
