Impact Acoustic is a Swiss manufacturer of acoustic solutions and materials engineered for performance and circular design. They present the ARCHISONIC® Mycelium Wall Tile, an acoustic wall tile cultivated in Switzerland from fungal root systems and reclaimed agricultural by-products. Unlike manufactured acoustic materials, each tile is grown rather than produced, resulting in a CO2-negative product that returns to the soil as a nutrient at end of life.
Material and Sustainability
ARCHISONIC® Mycelium is composed entirely of organic agricultural by-products and living fungal roots—mycelium—with no plastics, synthetic binders, toxins, or chemical dyes. During its biological growth phase, the material sequesters more carbon dioxide than is emitted across its full lifecycle, making each tile actively climate-positive. At end of life, the tiles are fully biodegradable. The material contains no VOCs and carries no off-gassing risk, making it well-suited to environments targeting WELL and LEED certification.
Acoustic Performance and Form
The tile is 300 x 300 x 50 mm and available in a single finish—Mycelium White (253)—a soft, natural white with an organic surface texture that varies from tile to tile as a result of the cultivation process. Sound absorption is tested per ISO 354, with high performance across speech and working frequencies. The tile is naturally fire-resistant and complies with DIN EN 13501-1 (B-s1, d0) without the addition of chemical fire retardants.
