A new space has opened its doors in a 1930s house in the San Miguel Chapultepec neighborhood of Mexico City. This cultural enterprise, named ARCO, merges art, design, and architecture to create a collaborative venue housing the architecture firm WORC and the furniture-focused design studio VETA.
The lead firm, WORC, developed an intervention and restoration proposal that "focused on returning authenticity to every line to restore the original elements, creating a symphony of past and present where the fusion of architectural history, green spaces, and fine materials shape the project. Livability, an essential premise, is reflected in every corner, where time and design converge in authenticity. A general design framework was established in which every line, arch, and window forms part of a visual narrative traversing the house with an elegant horizontal line. Where arches did not exist, the walls narrated their own history, establishing a clear dialogue between memory and the present."
