August 19 is World Photography Day. To mark this occasion, we present the winning entries of the recent photography competition "Interculturality and Inhabited Heritage" ("Interculturalidad y Patrimonio Habitado").
Organized by the Master in Architectural Heritage Intervention (MIPA) of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the University of Chile, and the Architectural and Environmental Heritage Committee of the College of Architects of Chile, the initiative sought to open a creative, technical, and critical space for observing and representing architectural heritage—especially in the context of easing COVID-19 lockdowns and within the framework of a new political landscape shaped by the country's constitutional process.
"This commits us to rethinking architectural heritage from new perspectives, and especially from the logic of inhabited space, breaking away from the static nature of monumental works or their transformation into museum objects," comments competition organizer Claudia Torres, academic coordinator of the Master in Architectural Heritage Intervention.
