The "Urban95 Latin America: Cities for Childhood" project, funded by the Bernard van Leer Foundation, was launched in 2021 to consolidate and scale the early childhood approach promoted by the Urban95 program in Lima to other cities in Peru and the Latin American region. This project joins the Pact for Public Spaces, which aims to promote best practices in public spaces through coordinated efforts with local governments.

To support the expansion of the Urban95 approach in Lima, a public design competition was launched for two early childhood-centered urban interventions to improve public spaces in two neighborhoods within the districts of Metropolitan Lima. Early childhood design seeks to pay closer attention to the needs of the city's most vulnerable users—children aged 0 to 5, their caregivers, and pregnant women—through the implementation of urban interventions. The winners and finalists are presented below.
