In November 2022, the Network of Latin American Architecture Biennials REDBAAL will mark its first ten fruitful years, celebrating this milestone by launching the Fourth Edition of the Oscar Niemeyer Award for Latin American Architecture, the prestigious ON-04 Prize. This August, the jury's decision was announced, revealing the top three winners and recognizing the work of architects from Brazil and Mexico.
This award is considered the most prestigious distinction in Latin America, recognizing the region's finest architectural production. Granted biennially, the ON Award is open only to works previously recognized by Latin American architecture biennials. It emerged as an initiative of the Network of Latin American Architecture Biennials (REDBAAL), founded in Quito through a constitution signed on November 23, 2012, during the XVIII Pan-American Architecture Biennial of Quito, BAQ 2012.
The awards ceremony for this Fourth Edition of the ON Prize will take place this October in Buenos Aires, Argentina, coinciding with the XVIII Buenos Aires International Biennial of Architecture (BIENALBA). The jury was composed of Loreto Lyon, Alejandro Beals, Giancarlo Mazzanti, Felipe Leal, Cristine Muniz, and architect Ana María Valenzuela. Read on to discover the winning projects.
