As part of a new initiative led by Francesca Borgonovo and Luis Young in Mexico City, "Preludio"—the inaugural exhibition of BY Galería—was presented from August 25 to September 3 at Proyecto Público Prim. This space arises from the question: "Is it possible to materialize architectural thought?"
The question suggests an almost universal answer that hints at different built outcomes. By peeling back the layers of the complex palimpsest that is architecture, a plurality of understandings and approaches to the discipline will be revealed. We present an extensive yet not exhaustive sample of multiple interpretations of this question. It is our personal approach to the different architectural practices that use representation as a critical and conscious tool in formal, artistic, or experimental ways. It is a selection of objects that narrate the creative process and theoretical principles of the invited architects.
