"The Value of Medialab-Prado as an Original Work on Urban Heritage and Institutional Good Practice." This is the title of the open letter written by the movement defending a cultural center with nearly 20 years of history in Madrid—housed in the historic Serrería Belga building in the Barrio de las Letras.

"On Wednesday, February 24, the newspaper El Mundo reported on the Madrid City Council's plan to relocate Medialab-Prado to Matadero Madrid. At its current venue in the Serrería Belga, the council proposes to establish a contemporary creation center to exhibit part of the collection of the Madrid Museum of Contemporary Art (MACM), which is currently stored at the Centro Cultural Conde Duque, where there is already a project to outfit an additional 2,500 m2 of exhibition space. In both the aforementioned report and other articles previously published by El País or subsequently by elDiario.es or El Confidencial, the Madrid City Council fails to clarify the process that led to this decision, and the next steps and how they will unfold remain unknown," the text explains, addressing the recent controversy.
