Located in the country's northwestern region, the state of Baja California Norte borders California (in the United States), Sonora, and Baja California Sur (in Mexico). Along with Baja California Sur, these are the only two Mexican states flanked by the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Sea of Cortez to the east, harboring some of the most breathtaking landscapes and coastlines in the country.

Due to its privileged location, Baja California Norte is one of Mexico's most culturally and commercially vibrant states. Its capital is Mexicali, while its most populous city is Tijuana—a highly popular tourist destination renowned for its desert climate, beaches, and gastronomy. Yet beyond tourism, the state has become a benchmark for Mexican architecture. Here, firms such as graciastudio, Diseño Norteño, T38 Studio, and TAC Taller de Arquitectura Contextual, among others, have developed a distinctive regional style that reflects the influences of both their immediate and neighboring territories. To celebrate this, we present a curated selection of built works in Baja California Norte, organized by its most prominent regions, inviting you to further explore the architectural landscape of Mexico.
