On November 7, the winners of the National and International Editions of the 2019 CEMEX Building Award were announced during a ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Polanco hotel in Mexico City. Here is the list of winners.

A total of 441 projects competed in the Mexico Edition, while the International Edition featured participants from 14 countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Spain, France, Mexico, Montenegro, Panama, Poland, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, and the Dominican Republic.

The jury comprised renowned architects and engineers from Mexico and other countries. The competition includes five categories and four special awards, evaluated based on sustainability and innovation in construction processes. To view the complete list of winners and finalists, click here. During the ceremony, the 2019 Lorenzo H. Zambrano Award was also presented, an accolade recognizing the career of an architect or engineer whose work has made a significant impact both nationally and internationally. The award went to architect Benjamín Romano for his work in international building design, most notably represented by Torre Reforma.

Another major award presented was the 2019 Arq. Marcelo Zambrano Scholarship, an initiative through which CEMEX supports the development of recently graduated young architects and engineers whose academic work shows great potential to contribute innovatively to the progress of construction and design culture in Mexico. This scholarship was awarded to Juan Benavides, a graduate of the Universidad de Monterrey, who is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Architecture and Urban Design at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.

Since 1991, the CEMEX Building Award has established itself as one of the most prominent competitions in the construction industry, seeking to recognize the talent and vision of professionals who create sustainable buildings for the benefit of present and future generations.
