ArchDaily en Español and the ARKRIT Collective partner to discuss architecture

We are pleased to announce a strategic partnership between the ARKRIT Collective and ArchDaily en Español to regularly publish critical essays that foster debate, rigorous argumentation, and discussion around architecture.

ARKRIT is a research group within the Department of Architectural Design at ETSAM in Madrid. Over more than a decade, it has established itself as a hub for reflection and knowledge production by and for architectural criticism. Founded by Professor of Architectural Design Dr. Antonio Miranda Regojo-Borges, its members include PhDs and university academics working across various European and Latin American research centers.

The ARKRIT Research Group views architectural criticism as the methodological foundation of design. The practice of criticism is the primary driver of the design process, to the point where criticism and design can become virtually synonymous.

In a research environment dominated by scientific journals, other formats for communicating and disseminating knowledge have been relegated to a secondary role. For criticism, the essay is its most natural medium—a form of criticism distinct from mere opinion, as the latter is based on individual taste, whereas good criticism is grounded in universal knowledge.

If we consider that the goal of criticism is not value judgment but the study of the specific conditions of each work—in relation to other architectural works, other fields of knowledge, and potential alternative theories—we can derive a flexible, open perspective. This allows for both a genuine understanding of the work and the opening of new paths in the course of architecture.

We are excited about this partnership. To introduce this collaboration, we share a podcast episode from the show *Habitar es Humano* on Universidad Central radio, where Dr. Fabián B. Di Giammarino, a Chilean member of ARKRIT, discusses the nature of criticism with professors Max Aguirre and Alfonso Raposo.
