A new renovation project is underway at the University of Guadalajara's Health Sciences Campus, led by Nr24arquitectura. Located at Sierra Mojada 950, Independencia Oriente, 44340 Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, the project covers a total area of 10,000 m² and is expected to be completed by 2019.
Description provided by the project team:
The goal of this renovation project was to revitalize an inefficient, highly deteriorated building by adapting spaces to maximize natural light. Another key objective was to transform transition zones into areas where students could make the spaces their own for studying, relaxing, or hosting outdoor exhibitions.

The result of these guiding principles is an open, understated building where spatial transparency plays a key role, aligning with global trends toward accessible education for all.
Similarly, significant emphasis was placed on incorporating vegetation throughout the open spaces, creating a calm and peaceful atmosphere in a building with high foot traffic and near-constant daily activity.

Glass, aluminum, and granite are the primary materials used in this project, which also convey a sense of solidity. These materials were chosen for their relatively low maintenance requirements, ensuring the building's longevity and preventing premature aging.
Given its location within the master plan, the building's character contributes to transforming and improving the campus and neighborhood landscape, establishing a new architectural language.

Manufacturers: Alucobond, Steni, Interceramic, Schindler.
