Since the mid-20th century, the Castagnino Museum has established itself as one of Argentina's most important cultural spaces. The historic building by the architectural firm Hérnandez Larguía-Newton (1937) was built in a privileged setting, conceived as the gateway to the city—a condition that will be further emphasized by the new intervention.
The project to be executed is the winner of the National Competition organized by the College of Architects of the Province of Santa Fe. Bidding for its construction will take place in early 2019, with work expected to begin in May.
The winning entry was the one that best met the highlighted requirements for the project. The authors are the firm Pasto Arquitectos (Juan Pablo Accotto, Mauro Barrio, and Sigfrido Stieger), together with Carballo-Errasti Arquitectos (Maricruz Errasti and Pablo Carballo), in collaboration with architects Soledad Patiño and Fernando Matos, and with consulting from Larson Ingeniería and the Centro de Investigaciones Acústicas y Luminotécnicas CIAL - UNC.
