The firm was founded in 2010 in Mexico City by Alejandra de la Cerda and Ana Julia Carvajal. VERTEBRAL

Elias Kalach and Teddy Nanes founded VERTEBRAL in 2015. The firm emerged as a multidisciplinary workshop and space for reflection, using spatial design to foster a close relationship between daily life and its context. With this in mind, they have approached projects in industrial design, landscape design, residential, and commercial architecture. Their vision is to regenerate underutilized urban spaces, typically residential, industrial, and corporate rooftops. They view rooftops as underused spaces that have the potential to reshape urban living habits by integrating them into a natural, green, and recreational environment. At the same time, these spaces foster urban biodiversity, increase property value, and mitigate urban sprawl.
