A Room of Her Own: Women Writers in Los Angeles from the 1960s–90s - Free Self Guided Architectural Trail Map

Each month, Friends of Residential Treasures Los Angeles (FORT: LA) curates a new self-guided trail, inviting Angelenos to explore the city’s rich architectural heritage. These immersive experiences highlight significant homes, hidden gems, and the designers who have shaped Los Angeles' built environment.

This month’s trail is entitled A Room of Her Own: Women Writers in Los Angeles from the 1960s–90s and is curated by Kate Wolf. This trail traces the residences of literary figures including Joan Didion, Eve Babitz, Anaïs Nin, Dorothy Parker, Eileen Chang, Wanda Coleman, and Carolyn See, illuminating how Los Angeles shaped their lives and creative output. Moving from Silver Lake to Santa Monica, it reveals the city as a dynamic and often overlooked landscape for women’s literary history.
