LAVA (Laboratory for Visionary Architecture) has revealed their runner-up proposal in an international competition to design Forest City, a new development located on reclaimed land just off the coast of Singapore in Malaysia.
Initiated by Chinese developer Country Garden, the competition sought urban design schemes that would improve the efficiency of the land use while enhancing the quality of space and environment through the landmark of a “forest city.” The competition was won by Sasaki Associates last year.

Galeri Petronas, in partnership with the Austrian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, recently launched a travelling exhibition titled “Getting Things Done : Evolution of the Built Environment in Vorarlberg”.
The 8th series of the ‘International Conference on World Class Sustainable Cities’ (WCSC) event is themed ‘City Spaces, Public Places’ with the objectives of addressing and focusing on the benefits of greater accessibility and better public spaces that will enhance social, economic and environmental elements of the city and its livability. Urban public spaces – sidewalks, parks, squares, traditional markets, and small plazas — and how people use them – humanize cities. In the pursuit for a World Class City, the basic necessities of its citizens may be compromised due to the ever-increasing population size and spatial area, as well as economic growth.
