Lunawood is a pioneer in decorative wood solutions, with 25 years of expertise in the thermal modification of wood. Their mission is to reconnect people with nature by bringing the calming essence of the forest into urban environments.
Lunawood ThermoWood® solar shading and façade cladding were applied in the Maxx Royal Kemer Resort, a large-scale hospitality development designed by Baraka Architects in Turkey. Completed in 2014, the resort reinterprets the traditional hotel typology by integrating extensive outdoor spaces, guest amenities, and landscape elements into a unified architectural composition designed to support both leisure and social activities.
For the building envelope, thermally modified wood was specified as exterior cladding and solar shading elements across multiple façades throughout the complex. The use of Lunawood ThermoWood® contributes to solar control, privacy, and visual continuity while supporting long-term performance in a coastal environment exposed to sunlight, humidity, and temperature variation.
The extensive application of wood across the façades establishes a consistent material identity for the resort and demonstrates the scalability of thermally modified wood systems in large hospitality developments.
The project is characterized by the significant use of ThermoWood® as a primary exterior material, making it one of the largest building complexes to incorporate a continuous wood façade system at this scale. Through the integration of shading structures and façade cladding, the resort demonstrates how thermally modified wood can be used to connect architecture with its natural surroundings while maintaining durability and consistent performance in demanding climatic conditions.
