The Nuu.Motel project was born out of a research instigated by the desire to make the original demand (a simple renovation of a « classic » motel from the 2000s) not just any interior renovation. Far from comprehending interior design as something  « minor », the design strategy behind Rodapé_ architecture office’s practice roots from the understanding that it is not possible to do architecture without research, going further: architecture and language can be intertwined, creating a fertile field of pre-existence – being them material, tectonic, but also linguistic or imagery – and turning them essential. From then on, two main demands emerged for the conceptualisation of the project: understanding the place of the word "motel" in the common brazilian imaginary, and guiding the renovation so that it did not have an exorbitant price - customer restrictions.
