Text description provided by the architects. The Object : The holiday home in “CAP Camarat” , now known as Casa JA, is a part of a housing complex built in the 1965 know as “Village du Merlier”. A housing complex that was designed by Montrouge architects, which was founded in 1958 by Jean Renaudie, Pierre Riboulet, Gérard Thurnauer and Jean-Louis Vèret. “Village du Merlier”, located south of Saint Tropez, on the Coast, close to “Cap Camarat”, is an example of the first housing complexes to be built along the coastline. These houses proposed a new type of housing unit where tradition and modernity came together. The housing complex is made up of thirty five housing units. Each unit has two floors, implemented on a complex terrain with steep slope with direct access to the Sea. The complex is accessed by small alleys, stairs and squares, focusing mainly on the pedestrian.
