Contemporary education is changing rapidly and is evolving in response to the changing demands of society and technology development. The classical model where a professor stands at a lecturing desk and students sit in the auditorium has lost its relevance. New educational technologies are calling for a new approach to classroom setup and modern architecture has to come up with an adequate response.
The search for new architectural and spatial solutions for a modern centre for culture and education is the primary goal of the workshop that will take place in Makhachkala on February 1-10th, 2016.
Under the guidance of Russian and European tutors, students and young architects will develop architectural concepts for the Perimeter Centre for Culture and Education to be realized by the PERI Foundation under Ziyavudin Magomedov. The Perimeter Centre aims to combine a centre for creative technologies, a social projects school and a robotics lab. Additionally, the Perimeter Centre will hold the Centre for Talented Youth, a joint project of the PERI Foundation and Moscow Centre for Pedagogical Skills headed by Ivan Yaschenko. The PERI Innovations Business Incubator, now operating at the Dagestan State Technical University, will also take up residence at the new PERI Centre.
