Text description provided by the architects. We worked on the repurposing of an old, traditional conventillo (collective housing) in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of La Boca, intended for an undefined commercial use. The technical and design exercise centered on the reuse of materials themselves, thereby giving the building value and contemporaneity through highly cost-effective recycling. We believed the project should be deeply connected to the neighborhood, while allowing for a more current, technically efficient use, endowed with a spatial fluidity that connects with both private and public outdoor spaces.
