Text description provided by the architects. The White Tower is a recently completed residential building that, together with the Black Office Tower currently under construction, forms part of a complex in the heart of Ulaanbaatar, the coldest capital city in the world. Although the city features an orthogonal grid as its urban planning matrix, the buildings are freestanding volumes, without any party-wall typologies. The commissions consist of two towers located on nearby sites, adjacent to Genghis Khan Square, where the parliament is situated.
