Text description provided by the architects. The Mansfeld building is the oldest administrative building in the city of Luxembourg, having served a public function since the 16th century. Pierre-Ernest de Mansfeld was the first governor, representing the Spanish King Philip II, to govern the Duchy of Luxembourg from this building, which was transformed into the Governor's residence in 1565.
