Casa da Arquitectura and Hinterland are organizing the Por Exemplo meeting on October 13, bringing together 10 practices of young Portuguese and Spanish architects aged 45 and under for an exchange of ideas, methods, and work processes.
There is a generation of young architects who have been developing their work in a stimulating international context, driven by the pressure of the tourism market. Despite their brief experience, these professionals have mastered digital tools, but they navigate a highly competitive and continuously accelerating world.
Who are these architects, what are they doing that is new, and how do they view the future of the profession? What examples can they offer? The goal of the Por Exemplo meeting is to create a space for young Portuguese and Spanish architects to showcase their work, presenting cases, ideas, and concepts.
With the goal of offering a critical analysis of different perspectives, realities, and design methods, Por Exemplo will provide insight into the challenges these offices face and the solutions they have adopted. The curation of practices was led by Filipa Figueira and Tiago Vieira from the Hinterland studio.

Operating across the production of places and objects, research, and critical thinking, the studio's practice focuses on building solutions from a sensitive, critical, and responsive perspective toward context and its contingencies.

Their strategies are always based on valuing what exists, attempting to bring elements from past eras to light to make spaces understandable within urban and landscape transformations—whether in rehabilitation interventions, new construction, or interior design, all approached through the intersection of tradition and innovation.
