Celebrating its 35th anniversary, this edition of CasaCor brings together projects by 68 renowned professionals spread across more than 10,000 square meters inside a landmark of São Paulo modernism, the Conjunto Nacional. Under the theme “Particular Infinite,” this year's exhibition focuses on the accumulation of time, on the stories already told and those we tell about ourselves. In this universe of ways of inhabiting the world, and of the traces we leave around us—from finger marks on the walls to the dust we carry on the soles of our shoes—we are always searching for something that is ours alone, inexhaustibly our own.
As in the previous edition, the exhibition occupies a space with a strong urban character. Weaving through the in-between spaces of the Conjunto Nacional, CasaCor is also a journey through the material memory of the building, especially its upper terrace, which has been closed to the general public for nearly ten years. The layout design, by the firm FGMF, seeks to unleash the full potential of David Libeskind's free plan. Along the way, concrete appears now and then between the decorated spaces, which are also framed by ribbon windows placidly overlooking Avenida Paulista. The Paulista Augusta square, by Catê Poli and João Jadão, for example, takes advantage of one of the building's sharp corners, enhancing the glass curtain walls that wrap around its perimeter.
