In October 2022, Fundación Patrimonio Sustentable, alongside the Downtown Valdivia Trade Association and Sercotec Los Ríos Region, launched the Barrio Cochrane Guide: Heritage and Commerce of Valdivia. This publication highlights the heritage, human, and architectural value of the neighborhood, featuring stories of local businesses, historic trades, and iconic buildings in the area.
Following a collaborative effort with the community through co-creation workshops, the foundation and local entrepreneurs established the core themes structuring the heritage and commercial guide of this landmark area in Valdivia. The neighborhood is located in the well-known Barrios Bajos sector, an area historically characterized by its construction style and the severe winter flooding it once faced, which was eventually resolved through sewage and paving infrastructure projects.
