On September 21, the world celebrates Arbor Day, a date aimed at raising awareness about environmental conservation. During childhood, we establish relationships with nature that become deeply rooted in our imagination, eventually evolving to influence architectural design. We have selected 22 projects of various uses that draw inspiration from our relationship with nature and this shared imagination.
Historically, humans have utilized materials and resources from nature to build shelter and protect themselves from the elements. Conversely, human impact on the land has severely affected the planet, making the search for materials and techniques that are less harmful to the environment increasingly common. Beyond this duality, architecture often looks to nature for design inspiration, whether through material choices, building language, or integration with the landscape and vegetation.
