The Council for Architecture and Urbanism of Tocantins – CAU/TO has launched a design competition to select the best proposal for the construction of its headquarters in the city of Palmas.
“The goal of the competition is to democratize opportunities, while highlighting the work of architects and urban planners in developing an architectural design that best fits the Council's spatial needs and serves both society and professionals in its role as a federal professional regulatory agency,” states the president of CAU/TO, architect and urban planner Silenio Martins Camargo.
Submitted proposals must consider economic, legal, and environmental sustainability criteria across all phases of the building's implementation – namely design, construction, and use.
Submissions will be evaluated by a jury and must meet criteria including, among others, the prioritization of accessibility and public spaces, thermal comfort and energy efficiency solutions, technical-constructive and budgetary feasibility, maintenance economy and efficiency, and aesthetic and formal aspects, while adhering to the guidelines and specifications in the Competition Brief, Terms of Reference, and other attachments.
The jury consists of architects and urban planners Daniel Mangabeira (president of CAU/DF), Tiago Holzmans da Silva (president of CAU/RS), Cláudia Amorim (DF), Matozalém Santana (federal councilor of CAU/BR representing TO), and Rafael Simões Mano (RJ).
