Lucas Sere Peltzer and Sebastián Andrés Podestá, with La Plaza, are the winners of the competition organized by Conéntrico 04 for the design of the intervention in Plaza de San Bartolomé. Trained in architecture, they studied together at the University of Buenos Aires. They later took different paths—Sebastián focusing on architecture and teaching, and Lucas on art and photography. In 2014, they began working together, embarking on travels and experiences that connected them with people and their ways of life, witnessing the realities and conditions of human existence in the contemporary world. Their joint pursuit is to address these human and social issues within the fields of architecture and art.
In the Plaza de San Bartolomé, a simple intervention articulates the existing space and calls for contemplation and reflection. Devoid of its usual benches, the square features two resting points at opposite ends: two heritage stones connected by a reflecting pool that simplify the act of sitting, stripping it down to its essence. This play of elements invites people to linger, observe, and connect with their surroundings and each other. The setup suggests rather than directs, leading each person to different places: the dissolution of boundaries; irrigation canals, the past, and origins; the preservation of urban historic heritage; and human connection.
