The more hidden and remote, the greater the magic; the more land, sky, and water come into view, the deeper the mystery. To know its towns is to enter el Perú profundo, a territory spanning coast, highlands, and jungle. Alongside the vast ocean lies the coastal desert, the towering peaks of the Andes Mountains traversing the country from north to south, and the expansive rainforest harboring the source of the Amazon River. Upon this landscape rest the settlements and structures of ancient cultures. Imagine, then, how many atmospheres remain to be discovered in the most remote corners of this biodiversity. The climatic variety is proportional to the diverse typologies of its towns: towns of sorcerers, ghost towns, lost towns, floating towns, towns of ancient or forgotten languages, of musicians, of stone, of clay, of colors...

To visit these towns is to travel through time. They seem straight out of a storybook yet are remarkably real—small and picturesque, mystical and rural, home to both the elderly and the young, featuring dreamlike landscape-architectures and ancestral customs. It is enough to breathe the pure air, enjoy the silence, and remain still. This is not just a place to look at, but to touch; it is a living culture to be shared through local traditions and the reality of its warm inhabitants, who are few in number and live simply, practicing age-old activities. They remind us of warmth, humility, and detail—simple concepts that architects sometimes overlook when designing under the influence of foreign cultures without valuing their own roots.

And so, as the grandfather would say, defying the future: to begin this guide, let yourself be swept away into a contemplative state.
