We are officially launching the 3rd edition of the Bamboo Experience Camp - Peru 2020, an international training workshop where we will construct a module using earth and local, native, and introduced bamboo species—Chusquea dombeyana and Dendrocalamus asper—in the city of Tarma, Peru.
Our goal is to revalue Andean bamboo species to support ancestral knowledge of architecture using earth and natural fibers. To this end, we have invited Colombian architect Jaime Peña.
Peña specializes in the design and construction of bio-architecture using natural materials and techniques such as bambu-a-pique, adobe, wood, clay, and primarily bamboo. He has developed his own style and technique within his architectural works, working with the notion of universal geometry and applying concepts such as fractality, design patterns, biomimicry, and the golden ratio.
