The XII Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BIAU)—promoted by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA)—continues its traveling program in Peru with the exhibition XII BIAU: Habitar al Margen (Living on the Margins). The exhibition opened this Saturday as part of LIMAPOLIS 2023, an international workshop organized by the Faculty of Architecture at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). It is curated by Elizabeth Añaños—an architect and member of the XII BIAU jury—and José Luis Villanueva—Director of Architectural Studies at PUCP—to foster experimentation and reflection on the Right to Housing and living in Metropolitan Lima.
The exhibition, which will be on view at Casa O’Higgins until May, was inaugurated by Iñaqui Carnicero, Secretary General of Urban Agenda and Housing (MITMA), and attended by other experts in architecture and urbanism. Following the presentation, a panel discussion titled “Right to Housing” took place. Moderated by Anna Vergés—curator of XII BIAU: Habitar al Margen—the panel featured insights from Gema Stratico, National Director of Habitat for Humanity Peru; Jorge Zapata, President of the Peruvian Chamber of Construction (CAPECO); Elizabeth Añaños Vega, curator of LIMAPOLIS 2023: Right to Housing and former Deputy Minister of Housing and Urbanism of Peru; and Augusto Mendoza, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Planning Institute (IMP MML).
