As part of the temporary exhibition "Pre-Columbian Architectures: Representing and Inhabiting the Past," we invite you to the screening of the first episode of the documentary series on the work of Al Borde, "Building with Living Trees," followed by a discussion about the documentary.
The first episode of this series focuses on the Casa-Jardín, a single-family home located in the suburbs of Quito, designed for an ecologist. The house is developed in three pavilions with hybrid structures that combine living trees with various construction systems, utilizing a vernacular technique of living fences used in the Andes since pre-Columbian times.
