The most important architecture event in Bolivia, the VIII International Architecture Biennial of Santa Cruz 2022 (VIII BASC), will take place from March 25 to April 3, 2022. Convened and organized by the Colegio de Arquitectos de Santa Cruz (CASCZ), this year's event will be held in a hybrid format, featuring both virtual and in-person activities, with Santa Cruz serving as the host city.
During the launch of the eighth Biennial, architect José Luis Durán, president of the Colegio de Arquitectos de Santa Cruz, noted: “This event is highly significant for our institution for several reasons. First, it serves as a platform for architecture professionals to showcase their talent to the world, putting it at the service and consideration of society. Second, the biennial allows us to recognize and highlight the work of architects, whose role in our society is more important today than ever.”
The 2022 Bolivian Architecture Biennial centers on the theme Reconnect, which alludes to the global post-pandemic situation. Consequently, the architectural event seeks to reflect, reconnect, rethink, and reimagine new habitable spaces and cities through the practice of architecture and urbanism.
