Text description provided by the architects. The difficulty of placing the residence in a nondescript urban periphery neighborhood built in brick suggested a response that had to balance integration and introspection. The house was designed as a dwelling focused inward toward its own domesticated environment, filled with courtyards, but entrusted the brick materiality with the task of integrating into this surrounding context of face-brick semi-detached houses, while simultaneously differentiating itself through the arrangement and materiality of the bond patterns.
