About Modum Atelier
Founded in 2021 and led by Zhou Ruizhe and Yang Junbo, Modum Atelier is an idea-driven design studio. Its practice spans architecture, interior design, exhibition design, placemaking, and furniture design. The studio maintains permanent offices in Milan, Chengdu, and Nanjing. "Heng" (衡) represents the pursuit of balance, aiming to fuse diverse elements to generate novelty. Exploring a culturally eclectic, modern Eastern identity, the studio treats tradition as the raw material for "sustainable cultural experiences," seeking a harmonious balance between the traditional and the contemporary. Emphasizing context-specific design, the firm crafts rich narratives that resonate with their environments, creating unique spatial experiences through the custom curation of form, tectonic structure, and materials.
