Community Center in India: Creating a Better Future
New Humanitarian Competition
Archstorming, in partnership with the NGO Fundación Vicente Ferrer (FVF) and its local partner, the Rural Development Trust (RDT), is launching a competition to create a versatile Community Center prototype for rural communities in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Since 1969, these NGOs have been dedicated to transforming impoverished regions in southern India. This competition focuses on a key part of the FVF-RDT mission: building community centers to improve social cohesion and facilitate collective decision-making.
The first Community Center resulting from this competition will be built in Kodidoddi, a remote village in Andhra Pradesh that lacks essential facilities. Currently, the community gathers under a tree due to the lack of a better meeting place, with no proper location for educational programs or space for the basic needs of young mothers. This project aims to bridge these gaps, connecting Kodidoddi to the wider world through a center that promotes learning, gatherings, and empowerment.
