Festival des Architectures Vives

The 20th Anniversary of the Festival des Architectures Vives in Montpellier in 2026
To mark this symbolic anniversary, the FAV is evolving its traditional format and presenting a distinctive edition focused on Transmission. In 2026, the festival will once again take over the courtyards of Montpellier’s private mansions from June 9 to 14.
For this occasion, emblematic teams from previous editions are invited to take on a new role: that of mentors. This role represents a symbolic passing of the torch and a gesture of trust toward the new generation, while remaining rooted in a collective approach.

2026 Edition: Transmission and Julien Tuffery, Patron of this Anniversary Edition
For the past two years, the Festival des Architectures Vives has been reflecting on the concept of patronage for its editions, with the clear intention of inviting figures from fields beyond architecture, yet who share common values of creation, transmission, and territorial engagement. This approach aims to broaden perspectives on architecture and foster dialogue with other disciplines.

For the 2026 edition, centered on the theme of “Transmission,” the choice has been made to invite Julien Tuffery, head of Atelier Tuffery, as the patron of this anniversary edition. An emblematic house of French textile craftsmanship, Atelier Tuffery is a family business deeply rooted in its territory, carrying a legacy of skills and gestures passed down from generation to generation.
Through his career, Julien Tuffery embodies a contemporary vision of craftsmanship, grounded in the valorization of manual work, technical mastery, sustainable practices, and respect for materials.
This patronage symbolizes the close link between contemporary creation and the heritage of craftsmanship—at the very heart of the festival’s concerns. Like architecture, the work carried out by Atelier Tuffery is based on a long-term perspective, attention to quality, and the transmission of knowledge as a driver of both creativity and sustainability.
