IE School of Architecture & Design hosts Yasmeen Lari at the IE Creative Campus Segovia as part of its 2025–2026 CRAFT & CARE lecture series. Lari will discuss how her practice redefines architecture as a tool for care, resilience, and social transformation—working directly with communities through low-cost, zero-carbon construction and knowledge-sharing systems.
Based in Pakistan, Yasmeen Lari is widely recognized for her pioneering role as the country's first female architect and for her later shift toward humanitarian and community-based work. After decades of conventional architectural practice, she redirected her focus to addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, particularly in post-disaster contexts. Through the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan, which she co-founded, Lari has developed scalable models for building using local materials such as bamboo, mud, and lime, empowering communities—especially women—to construct their own homes and infrastructure.
