As part of the Frankfurt Rhein-Main World Design Capital 2026, ICEX is promoting a distinctive architectural installation that will transform the garden of the Instituto Cervantes in Frankfurt into an open cultural space. Inspired by the constructive methodology of Antoni Gaudí, the lightweight pavilion reinterprets his structural principles through a contemporary approach focused on geometry, material efficiency, and the relationship between form and structure.
Designed by architects GGstudio and built by Volúmenes y Vareta, the project proposes a new model for cultural architecture: modular, demountable, and reusable. The structure combines a timber framework with a hybrid envelope of ceramic and textile elements, creating a dynamic architectural skin that modulates light, ventilation, and interaction with the surrounding environment. Integrated low-energy lighting enhances the installation at night.
