Open House Athens returns on 5–6 April, with more than 70 buildings opening their doors for free guided tours and an extensive parallel programme starting on 29 March. Now firmly established as one of the city's most engaging cultural events, the festival invites the public to explore public and private spaces—from historic buildings and monuments to contemporary offices, residences, and hotels—led by a team of 500 volunteers.
This year's edition, titled "Future Heritage – The Architecture of Today, the Heritage of Tomorrow", highlights the importance of architecture as a means of shaping future cultural heritage. It forms part of the continent-wide programme of Open House Europe, a collaboration project uniting 16 Open House festivals across Europe under the shared theme of "Future Heritage" for its 2025 season.
The Open House Athens 2025 OPEN Tours programme categorises participating sites under four thematic labels: Preserved Heritage, Transformation, Sustainable Design, and Innovation Cluster. Each category reflects a different way in which architecture connects the past with the future, whether through careful restoration, adaptive reuse, sustainable design principles or forward-thinking workspaces.
